Hi everyone,
I'll be frank, I haven't done any 3D stuff for about a year and a half and have been completely out of it since getting my full-time artist job in the games industry. It would be great to refresh myself though and see if I can make any headway with an old project I had that I'm still pretty fond of.
Here's my mini Uncharted 2 diorama that I did some work on a while back - in fact the old forum post is here
http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123693 and it's more or less the same, I've just changed up the lighting, resized a few props and stripped off the textures so I can go back to basics.
I'm going to try and follow the workflow from Henrique's article on cgmasters here :

Now, let's see if I can finish this.

I have looked at some of the models (door, wood, bowls, lamp holder, etc), and given them a bit of an update. Added a few more polys, made some things smoother and also remeshed the door so it's ready for sculpting at a later date. Things are moving fairly slowly, but I'm in no rush.
Unfortunately right now I've got a week (maybe two) of overtime at work, so I'm getting a lot less time in the evenings to work on this. Progress will probs slow up for a bit, but I'll still be working on it where I can.
The one thing I noticed from your old project thread is that your reference was pulled directly out of Uncharted. Make sure to grab a bunch of real world images too - it'll help you break down the exact look and feel of the materials. Also, I think adding your own style to it could be really interesting, especially if you go with something more hand-painted. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
