Lol, enjoy..
As for the rest of you, I'll see you there!
In terms of etiquette at socials like this, it's generally a good idea to not treat them like a job fair, but rather use them as a time to get to know the people you meet on a more personal level. We've never really had a problem with this, though. Maybe only a couple of people. Some students bring their portfolios on ipads or whatever, which isn't a bad thing. Most people will be happy to help crit your work. Just don't be forceful about it. Very few (if any) people are actually in a position to hire you, and recommending someone who they just met at a bar just won't happen. We'll all say if we`re hiring or not, "just check out our website for job postings". I personally love to see people engage others while at the event, then trade emails / cards at the end to go over portfolios at a later date. You`ll get a much better critique, and gives you a chance to stay in contact after.
We're all super friendly, and I like to think we are very welcoming. I try to say hi to everyone that comes in the room, or joins the table. And we all love meeting new people with the same interest. So even if you aren't a professional, or even if you arent going to school for it... Feel free to join! You can even bring a friend if you are feeling shy. Just let us know in this thread so we can keep track of the head count!
Hope to see you there!
buuut I dont know for sure where well be, just look for the sweaty nerds!
Yes. I requested the library. Straight in and to the left. Its up a stair or two.
Those were my exact thoughts about Toronto. That's why I started organizing them! Start a thread and ask who's in the area and if anyone is interested! Only takes 1 phone call / email if you find a place.
Thanks for coming, everybody!
