Hi everyone, here are my little contribution to SOMA game art. I am really proud to have worked in this game. Congrats to the guys at Frictional Games.
Concept and Art direction - Frictional Games
Highpoly, Lowpoly and Textures - Mashru Mishu
Awesome stuff! SOMA is probably one of the few games where you can't get a good look at the character models in-game; it's almost strange to see them clearly in renders like this.
As a side note if you've got SOMA installed the supersecret.rar in the game's folder contains tonnes of concept art (inc the character's in this thread), design documents, level plans, some WIP footage and so on; definitely check it out! (The file has a password you can get by playing the game or through google...)
Additionally all of the game's meshes are in .dae format in the game's folder, nothing seems to be hidden away from the curious mind, which makes a great learning resource. The frictional people are awesome like that.
I'm enjoying the game. Absolutely fantastic art direction and character design. Then, game makes good use of the darkness and the fact that imagination will fill out the blanks. It's scarier that way, but also kind of pity because the monsters are absolutely gorgeous. It's often the silhouette that seduces the mind to imagine.. for example the first sight of the "disco ball man". That combined to the animation and brilliant sound design.. AWwwww.

Absolutely agree on this! Sound design is really nice, very creative use of it. Whish more AAA paid more attention to sound!
Awesome work. I clicked this thread because my real life name is soma... ahaha it looked like a message to me.
wana play that game now. Never played a horror game before.
Awww yiss, started playing this the other day and my soiled undergarments should be ample evidence that its an amazing horror game. Those creatures are so good/terrifying - you guys did a great job.
Played the game as soon as it came out, loved every minute. Congrats on the enemies, they look so interesting and completely outclass Amnesia's nasties
At one point I found myself stuck on a blocked staircase with hoof foot guy in front of me, I couldn't escape and he couldn't get me so I shone my flashlight in his 'face'
But yeah when I got a better look at him it only made it worse. Most tense part in the game for me, again nice job

These lil guys were initially modeled by Jeremy Smith and I created the textures and updated them with the Quixel Suite 2 beta
They're a few more images on my Artstation
Awesome work!
So weird complimenting work that's meant to be horrifying. Its like "Yes, I was absolutely disgusted; even threw up a little. Great job!"
As expected though these are all really well executed models, especially transitions between organic and mechanical parts. Unnervingly good.

Btw, game's website is down: http://somagame.com/
while I haven't played through the whole thing yet, I'm a couple of hours in, and there hasn't yet been a jump scare.
There are definitely some "Oh crap, run!" moments, though.
