I am remaking Sophia III the car from Master Blaster on NES and its going to be finished with a full PBR treatment. So far however my progress has been slow as I've been admittedly struggling with the redesign on the car itself. My primary concern is simply design at this point. I want it to look believable as a real car yet look like it really jumps. Obviously the model is a WIP. The main area I'm unsure about is the "legs" and "underneath" section.
I think whenever you try to make something that was basically a few pixels to a full 3d model these days it's quite a challenge because it requires a lot of imagination. Obviously you can make it as little or as much detailed as you want. Best of luck.
