So I made a thing and was wondering about animations like this as this is my first go of it and i used dummy objects on all the objects in this scene. After viewing a few peoples animations (specifically) in maya I saw would be much easier rigging controls.
This gave me the sad face as I knew my process was flawed in the way i went about the rig shown below but with this setup I am allowed the possibilities to edit the mesh and retain the rig and animations intact.
Which for about my entirety in 3D was always a dream of mine to have, now if I used other rigging methods do I still retain the editable ability or does that break down entirely when i attempt to edit the meshes (future or otherwise)?
Thanks for any help on the subject I am still very new so go easy on the lingo.

It also would probably be cool to have him transform in the middle of an action like diving or jumping
Here's one I did a while ago, as you can see the transformation happens at the quickest point of the animation.

Saw these posts a while ago but haven't had time to address the issues also i started a new animation keeping the body together and it just was taking up too much time, I don't know if i will complete these but I did have a lot of fun learning how to transform objects enough so that if i ever land a gig with that in mind i know i can do it.
Love transformers and the ability to make it look real enough with "semi-lowpoly" assets.
I feel bad for bumping this with no updates but you are right it is in the middle of the screen, I am new to animation, i play around here and there to get an idea before making a commitment but i feel i should just concentrate on modeling, sculpting, texturing if i am being honest.
It is just where i am really comfortable and this (new/old thing) that comes up get out of your comfort zone but then I am like well then i can't be a master at one thing if i am spread thin across others... so yea uhm i don't like that saying to say the least.
I pose my characters now and for me that's good enough but i do appreciate the comments i will think about these critics in the future, but until then i have moved onto "greener" pastures as far as game art goes.
Much appreciated!
Nice animations Adam.
