How do Developers Group up.

Hi, I was wondering how do people group up with others to create games. Do people just group up on NewGrounds, I have tried Indie Team Up but I have had no luck.

You can attend local or online game jams.
You can join various facebook groups.
You can attend all kinds of meetups.
You can join various online communities, on forums, slack, skype, whatsoever.
You can use sites like reddit:

There's also the Unreal Engine and Unity forums to collaborate with other developers, or IndieDB.com, and http://www.moddb.com/ for Mods.
