Hi
Can you help, I am looking for 3D Web Reviews, is there anything out there? is it going to be based on HTML-5 whats the proof, hard facts? I would really appreciate your help.
List of engines that support 3D Web exports, native with no plugins?
File sizes between the exports (Playcanvas, Unity 5, UE4....what else is there that can export to a web browser?)
Examples

Regarding previsualisation (which I believe is what you are mostly referring to here) : Besides the occasional portfolio showcase, I doubt that architecture/real estate firms in need for those would be very willing to put them online in the first place. That too could change of course.
The recent Paris appartment demo got done in UE got a lot of coverage, and that came from Youtube/Vimeo and articles linking to the video, since that can be watched instantly on a phone or a regular computer. At the end of the day there is almost zero incentive for the artist to release the interactive version of it ...
According to Parisi in his book -[ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Programming-Applications-HTML5-WebGL-Visualization/dp/1449362966/"] Programming-Applications-HTML5-WebGL-Visualization[/ame]
3D processing hardware is now shipped in every computer and mobile device, with the consumer smartphone of today possessing more graphics power than the professional workstation of 15 years ago. More importantly, the software required to render 3D is now not only universally accessible, its also free. Its called a web browser."
The industry is also pulling together to create new 3D file format standards designed specifically for web use. The content creation landscape is still a bit rocky, but at least we have moved beyond the stone tools stage of a few years ago into more of a Bronze Age of 3D development."
As of this writing, 3D feature coverage is not complete across the various browsers. Also, each browser supports a slightly different subset. Clearly, this is not an optimal situation, but its the sort of thing that comes with the web application development territory. Cross-browser support has always been notoriously difficult; with the explosion of features in HTML5 and the proliferation of devices and operating systems, it hasnt gotten any better. The only consolation is that the alternative is far worse: native applications are even harder to build, test, deploy, and port. Oh well such is the life of a web developer in the 21st century."
I am hyped about the tech and really looking forward to monkeying around with it.
It will really take off once you can embed into website just like an image or Vimeo video.
Here are some examples
wikipedia or WHO website to help explain stuff.
Another example, it will be nice to have a 3D simulation in an Ikea website for example to help explain how to build something so you can get a brief overview before building it.
A map of the underground showing you where to go.
3D products to help sow game controllers, head sets, consoles.
Booking a seat at a concert/theater so you can see what the stage looks like from that angle.
I want to see what Borris island looks like, its the new airport they are building on the London Thames, I want to see the planes taking off, boats moving around, cars comeong in and out, it will be great tech for public awareness.
Airport controll will be able to get a view in 3D if they need it.....I am just spitting here....:poly124:
It will be a mini revolution we just can not see it yet, IMO - lol
Come back to this thread in ten years time and you will see, haha!!
