The way it worked for me eventually was by starting the SDKFrontend.exe from the games folder.
Does anyone have any idea about my question on the last page? How to add the tag mentioned in the rules and what this sentence means: "Your final workshop upload must include your final in-game art contest as outlined on the Workshop page. They can be uploaded as either .zip or .7z."
This doesn't make sense to me.
Hey, I had the same problem my Workshop Upload tool crashing so I couldnt upload my UPK.
Anybody know the workaround for this?
in "Set Launch Options" completely clean field.
When I do the skins, I prescribe (-dx10 -NoGadWarning), and when the public items, i should remove -dx10 -NoGadWarning
"my item is not showing in workshop. and is there any way to add a thumbnail after uploading?"
Same problem.I dont know what happened.
I think because
> "This contest will last for just over 4 weeks. The contest starts on Wednesday, September 16th and the deadline is Sunday, October 18th ad 23:59 EST (GMT -4) " http://www.polycount.com/kf2-gng/

I uploaded it on time. Realized I had this problem a day after. And I don't think a deadline of a third party community contest has anything to do with steam workshop's items being able to show up or not.
I notice there is a lot more submissions that are not shown up in the workshop. My item is not shown too, and I have been following some others' entry as well, and notice that their direct link is the only way I can access their item in the workshop, even though they submitted early. It seems to be the problem of Steam or the buggy upload tool again...
When I click "Download" on my own Steam Workshop entry I get the error message "Unable to download file: 2" What does this mean? Does anyone else get this? Could this have something to do with the buggy upload tool? It was giving me massive trouble when I uploaded my file and now this. I don't want to just reupload because then it might look like I was too late. Can someone from the dev team answer me this and give me a tip on how I can fix this/make it so they can actually get the file?
harry1511 - this might just be related to the visibility setting of these items. By default this option is set to private/invisible, in order to allow artists to prepare and double check their screenshots before making their submission public, for instance. What is the link to your item ?
Splango : there seems to be a problem with that submission, as it has no thumbnail. This probably impacts whether or not it is fully visible in the workshop.

It was on my end to not include a thumbnail because somehow my upload wasn't working (yeah, i know that doesn't make sense).
But I tried uploading a second item, this time with a thumbnail, and it worked flawlessly but it wasn't showing on workshop either.
Also, Gravedrinker : I don't know how things will go for this contest, but for the Chivalry one some people ran into a similar issue (corrupted or empty UPKs) and this was simply solved after the fact by providing the devs with a direct download link to the file.

Well, since we already know that the thumbnail on that one submission is broken, all the rest might very be correct, that won't fix it ...
You could probably attempt to re-upload it properly and indicate in the description and/or the dev comments the reason why you re-uploaded, providing a link to the original item page as a proof that you respected the deadline. But of course it would be even better to have the original item page fixed by Steam Support, as that would avoid any possible confusion. Tough call, I hope you'll get it fixed in due time.

That's what I was thinking, but how do I do that? Any idea?
Also how do I add tags to my workshop submission? I can't find infos on it ANYWHERE and it doesn't show up anywhere on the page either. In the "tutorial" for the upload it just tells you to click "update tags" and fill in your tags. There is no such thing.
Also do you have any idea if I can update my preview/thumbnail image using the upload tool without changing everything else/uploading everything again?
Does that then mess up the upload date or whatever? I got this annoying problem with the upk being corrupted on the Steam servers or something anyway, so I could try it. (Clicking download just says "Unable to download file: 2")
Yeah but what I mean by that is if it will look like it was changed after the contest deadline, don't want to have the entry disqualified because the upload tool or Steam messed up the file the first around.
Uploaded again, still can't download the file. What is going on. If I zip or rar it and keep everything else (name, description etc) the same, will it also update it or is that a problem then because it's not the same file name (because the file extension is different) than before?

I think that Download button doesn't work for anybody. At least it doesn't work for me.
Oh, that would be a relief. I hope that's the case, then there would be no problem I guess.
Hey, just in case, let a dev know that you uploaded your file again. Yoshiro ask me for my item ID before giving me the OK to re-upload to add my thumbnail
Yeah, I also can't download the file for my own entry. And yes, I have carefully set the item's visibility to public. But I guess only one with the link can access it. For thumbnail, I got the error too, but change the thumbnail ppi to 72 pixel/inch seems to fix the problem for me, strangely. So in case, judges don't see our entry on Steam, will they still consider our entry valid?

And did you choose access rights-to all?

To update the thumb you need to reupload the item with the same name / file names.
