Hi guys I am a maya user making the jump over to 3ds Max and having trouble doing a somewhat simple extrude on an object. I have cylindrical type object and would like to thicken a section by extruding all the polygons outward but when I do the transformation happens in a weird direction and I'm unclear why this is happening. Below is an example of the effect. Can anyone help? I find the extrude tool very alien in 3ds Max

Change the extrusion type from Group to Local Normal to get it to work like expected when extruding cylindrical selections.
Caveat: If you have the default caddy-style dialogs it'll have an icon instead of text, but the setting will be there somewhere. I personally recommend actually disabling the caddies in the settings as I'm not a huge fan of them.
