[3ds Max] Mesh wont react to bones

Hi guys, I'm trying to test the deform on my model but I can't seem to get the mesh's skin modifier to react to the bones. I've gone through a couple of tutorials and searched what I could on these forums but couldn't find an answer that seemed to fix it.

What I do know is that if I make a cylinder and do the exact same thing I did for my model, it does react when I move the bones. I'm not sure what's going on.

Here's the menu setup for the layers and the skin modifier.

Didn't bother to take a screen of the model, but the bones are definitely inside and positioned.
