So i'm just trying to explore different ways to reroute geometry to try and avoid nGons and triangles and i'm just looking for any tips you guys would have and also feedback on the picture which is something i was working on to test different rerouting possibilities on.

Take a look at this thread and go through the wire frame links in some of the users' posts. That should help you get an idea of how to route edges and maintain your mesh integrity.
