While Virtual Reality has been touted as being huge for tourism or games, I personally believe it will also have a big impact on artists also.
Imagine watching an artist create a live painting or 3D model right in front of you, without being in the same room with each other? You would be able to interact and learn in ways that simply watching a video or looking at jpeg images on a message board couldn't achieve.
The vive looks like its really coming out on top of the HMD war. Just needs to improve on the look, not sure what HTC has going for it as its kind of on rocky ground.
Man, that looks awesome. 3-5 more years and I believe we'll see a VR set in every middle income household. Till then its fun to see the wild west develop
The VR headsets all look amazing, but I'm deeply concerned about what wearing one of those every day for long periods of time could do to your eyesight.
Ordinary monitors are bad, and they aren't strapped directly onto your face.

The main issue (in terms of affecting your eyesight) with staring at a monitor as far as I am aware is that you are constantly focusing at a nearby surface and thus not exercising your eyes. So at least in terms of causing nearsightedness the HMD should be less of a problem than a normal monitor as the optics are setup to have your eyes focus on infinity.
I guess there could be issues due to brightness or specific wave lengths or something else I am not aware of though.
Already with the DK2 it is surprisingly comfortable in terms of eye strain.

Oh yea and retina burn spots, I recently found I have two they suck to have, when you pay attention to them, but if your not they sort of go away, but look like a small blurry spot on your lens, and it looks like an actual burn when you try to look at it, which i did, at first i thought it was just some spot, like those wiggly type of things you get on your eyes sometimes that go away with a wash or something, but these don't go away.
So yea not good, when VR comes into play there should be a pause for eye exercises with in the VR or a msg saying take a break or take 5 exercise your eyes.
IDK but yea i hate having these spots.
Otherwise awesome vid.
Just for those wanting to know more I work at 50% brightness now, no issues and the FLUX app. installed.

If only there were some sort of real life analog for this ...

The lack of CTRL-Z makes real life suck...
Don't make mistakes. It's so obvious!
If only someone would invent a magic bag of holding...
