I'm making some river pilings in zbrush.

First I made barnacle and limpet shells, did a zgrab to make alpha masks for brushes.

The problem I'm foreseeing is polypainting. Can anyone advice me how I can keep the shells as separate objects. I don't wish to make an insert brush, because I think the mesh would get really heavy with hundreds of barnacles.

You're right. I was getting confused between decimation master and zremesher. I've got handleable meshes now that don't look like crap.
