Hi, the reference image I want to use for modeling a gun is not displaying properly in 3DS Max's viewport. I tweaked the texture map display resolution in the viewport settings up to 2048, which sharpened the image, but chunks are still missing as you can see...

In the menu bar > Customize > Preferences... > Viewports > Configure Driver > *then under "Background Texture Size" set it to 1024 and/or check "Match Bitmap Size as Closely as Possible". Then restart 3DS Max!
While you're there it's always good to set other stuff like Antialised Lines in Wireframe Views, or MipMap settings.
Depending on your computers administrator settings, you might need to run 3DS Max as Administrator to get the settings to save and load correctly after restart. After that you shouldn't have to Run as Administrator.
Hopefully this sorts out your problem!
I'm doomed man.
(I had to switch to nitrous 9, due to a cut tool bug tho)
Set your image or canvas size to 2048 in photoshop. Max doesn't like non power of 2 textures.
Easiest way to call viewport configuration window is to right click on Maximize viewport toggle. (the most bottom right icon).
Sorry my bad you did
Bingo, thanks Noors. I changed the canvas size of my reference image to 2048 in Photoshop and it fixed it. Another thread, another solution.
