Can someone point me in the direction of the announcement confirming that some of the features I was expecting in the much delayed 1.9 have been abandoned and moved into version 2.0? And also, can someone point me in the direction of anything I can find that will tell me if I'm going to have to pay to upgrade to version 2.0 ( and get the features I expected not to pay for)?

    From what i have read 2.0 is free with extra features.

    There have frankly been a crushing amount of challenges but closed betas are now, finally, currently running for all upcoming releases.
    SUITE 1.9 died and has been reborn in the form of SUITE 2.0. SUPER fast, rock steady, streamlined UI, 3DO GPU Baker (+ free standalone with command line support), DDO Painter, NDO Painter, brand new real-time renderer 1:1 with Unity 5 & UE4 and much, much more. In closed beta as of 1 week back. Opening to all as soon as all bugs are confirmed killed.
    Megascans has been undergoing massive, massive upgrading since January based on valuable beta feedback and development of more scanners. There are still some remaining technical challenges to solve but the service is near final. We suffered large setbacks between March and June due to personal life tragedies for 2 core members of the staff (unfortunately myself included). We're all back on track now.
    We're incredibly grateful for having such a strong and supportive community. So many of you are here with us on Facebook now, absolutely crazy guys. We've been getting a lot of new users and amazing art to go with it, and will do our best to feature as many of you as we can. So many awesome games released in the past year have been using the SUITE in one way or another (this feels surreal to say) so we'll see if there's something we can arrange to highlight this. Drop us a line if you'd like us to feature your studio or game.

    Excellent, just read in the comments attached to that post that it is a free upgrade from 1.8. Now I'm happy :)

    Can't at the moment. Got a tight deadline on a sculpt I'm doing for print. Should be finished it by weekend though, then I'll be on it :)
