Maya 2016 Always Display Manipulator Handle on-screen?

Hello Everyone, hopefully a quick question for using Maya.

I recently started the migration process from Softimage to Maya and am still adjusting. One of the humps I've run into during the adjustment in my workflow is that;

In Softimage, there was an option to always display the manipulator on screen {{ I.e. If the vertex you were trying to manipulate was on the one side of a large object, but you wanted to align it with another vertex on the opposite side and had to move your view to said vertex, losing sight of the original component you were editing, the move/scale/rotate manipulator would still display on the edge of the viewport, even if the component/components pivot you were manipulating was off screen as well.}} Is there an option like this in Maya? Or do I have to keep both components in view? I hope the explanation brought enough clarity.

Also, any other migration tips from Softimage to Maya would be greatly appreciated, Thanks so much! :)

    I don't think there is an option for this, however in Maya you can control your manipulator without actually touching it by dragging your MMB around. It will obey any current constraints you have set to the manipulator as well: when you click on an axis (move scale or rotate), the handle turns yellow to indicate that axis will be the only one to be manipulated when using MMB.

    This allows you to move/snap components to other visible components as long as you have them selected, regardless of whether they are in view or not.

    Thanks, that's the good work around I was looking for. :)
