I haven't tried texturing in since Maya 2013 so I'm probably missing a step some where...but when I apply my diffuse map my model just appears black in the scene. Here is step by step what I'm doing.
1. Assign new material, Lambert.
2. Click the little checker next to diffuse and assign a File node.
3. Attach my .tga diffuse to the file node, and bam, model turns black, no diffuse.
I do have show textured turn on in the viewport, I remembered that much!
Heres a screen shot of my problem, I tried to crame as much info into it as I could.
I like said, I haven't gone through texturing workflow for quite some time so I might be missing something dumb, or maybe 2015 has a new step im missing?

@a3d pretty sure I got it right, trying to attach my diffuse/color into the diffuse option
@Fingus I'm not sure what UV channels are
I gotta learn myself about that
edit: I think I should of had "create new uv set" checked on under the mapping options. As a person speaking with little to no knowledge of what a uv set is, I think I somehow put all my uvs on one set and messed everything up.
Only thing though is when I select each object, their own uvs show up in the uv texture editor window just fine. Idk!
