hello there, people of polycount.
I found this nice concept from Dune Lee on ArtStation and thought I'd give it a try.

This is my progress so far:

Since this is my first real try on a real scene I feel very insecure as to if it's done "correctly". E.x. should I separate X or should it rather be a continuous mesh. Like both of the roofs. There is this wooden construction beneath. Should this be a mesh on it's own? Could I pull it off by "simply" painting it?

Thanks,

Looking nice especially for a first scene. You definitely shouldn't use one continuous mesh, it is usually better to divide them as they would be built in the real life. The wooden thing under the roof is your choice, I think it can look good even if its just painted, but you can even model it out. Especially if you would add modeled roof tiles, which would look damn good, because then they have depth, nice shadowing, and nice silhouette. You could do that easily, no hardware would hurt :D. It looks like the proportions are a bit off compared to the concept though.

Agree with Obscura. Great block out but I wouldn't be too afraid of adding more polys for details like that, the roof would look great with some more geo. A nice base would look nice too :)
