Hey everyone!
Welcome to my projects thread where I will be creating game ready models. I've done a few in the past, but as I'm going into my second year at college, its time to get serious. This first project will be a nice introduction to this thread. I just started the sculpt last night. I call this guy Iggy.
The sculpt is nearly finished so the game res model will be underway soon. Your comments and critiques would be more appreciated during this process.
See ya!

Polycount is a tremendous place to try out ideas. Many threads receive little or no comments from members because the concepts or work are not inspiring enough. This makes these boards ideal as a test bed. Artists are a really tough crowd so I reckon if you can make them happy then you are on the right track. Very few people actually take advantage of zbrush as a concept tool. I am also guilty of this becaise I love to make characters through to completion, this stops today for me . The best thing to do is to present concepts to the community and find out which ones work. You can bring an unsuccessful design to completion which will help you learn a process, but why not go with a design that works well in the first place. You can also present a concept and ask for ideas. I have noticed that artists here of all levels often have great advice that can help your concept along.
I wouldnt tell people to save their crits for the final production, you need crits now. For me the character doesnt work for a few reasons. If this is supposed to be a baby dino then there are elements that are working against it. The wrinkles are not so attractive, for babies there would be fewer and they would be rounder and fattier. The huge lips dont really work, as we get older our noses and ears keep growing and stuff starts to droop and that drooping mouth is what you have atm instead of a cute baby mouth. The anatomy on your model could use some work and the sculpting is lumpy. The scales on the back look like a dressing gown that doesnt fit properly instead of an integrated part of the creature. I think you want to take a good look at character design elements and make some studies to present here and get feedback right from the beginning of the process.
I have seen this work here a couple of times but this time I thought I would try and help. These comments are designed to aid you.
Hope this helps

If you guys see anything that could be improved upon, please let me know. He's resting just under 8,000 tris.
Very Nice
It seems on the 3/4 pose she is bulging out slightly to indicate a subtle smile, where as your earlier ones you didn't, maybe something in between those two.
Good work!
Update: Just tried out expressions for the first time. That was more challenging than fun haha. The expression isn't final. Its just something to expose me to expressions since thats what I plan on doing in the final piece. Tomorrow I will finalize the secondary forms and start detailing. Enjoy!
