I was checking the 3D Coat homepage, and thinking about buying it, and something really sold me: Autoretopo. Do you guys use this feature? Has anyone used this for hard-surface models and non-organic models?
I own 3D coat, I think it's a good program, but I have not used the autoRetop to much, so I can't recommend it or not, however the manual retop tools are quite solid.
It's definitely not the worst on the market (that would probably be Mudbox) but you should expect to have to throw down some guides to get a good result and possibly do some cleanup afterwards.
I tend to use 3Dcoat for manual retopo and zremesher in Zbrush with guides for automatic bits (if they need quads). No real reason except I get better 'auto' results from zbrush.
