scale object in zbrush

I'm new to zbrush.

I've used goz to send my mesh to zbrush from max. I can't seem to put the tool into the canvas without making it HUGE.

In edit mode, if I use the scale tool to make it smaller, it just seems to take forever... dragging and dragging, while it scales at a slow increment.

Is there a faster way to scale things? Or is there a setting somewhere, that I can adjust the document scale, etc?

Thanks in advance

    The tool scale in Zbrush doesn't matter. Unless you're making it a subtool... are you?

    If you open the "Initialize" pallete then click Unify it will scale the mesh down to an appropriate size in ZBrush

    Alternatively just shrink your model to 1% of the size when you export it from 3DS Max, then when you reimport it, scale it by 10000% to get it back to the right size

    Hmmm, yeah, I wouldn't think that scale matters either, except - it seems with a MASSIVE object, it scales too large relative to my brush draw size. That's basically the problem I'm having.

    @Dan
    I'm sorry, where is the '"initialize" pallete?' I can't find it...
    And yeah, I'll keep the scaling trick in mind for export, and import, but like I said, I was just using goz, which is a 1-click thing as far as I can see. But maybe there are settings for scale hidden somewhere.

    Thanks again guys

    Woops, sorry I meant the Deformation Pallet. My bad!

    It works for GoZ too. Just scale your model down to 1%, Reset the XFORM, then GoZ it. When you've finished with it in ZBrush, just GoZ it back into 3DS Max, then scale it to 10000%, which will put it back to the original size. :)

    I'd strongly recommend using the scaling method, as you have 100% control over the scale. I'm honestly not sure how Unify scales things, but what it does is scale things down so that they're a good size in ZBrush.

    The Unify will simply scale the object according to his bounding box to match a 1*1*1 Zbrush's unit Cube. It's perfect to quickly scale a mesh and avoid problems with brush size for exemple or use dynamesh.
    But the scaling method explained by Dan Powell is the way to go. I have the same issue with maya, most of the time I make a base mesh with correct scaling then use the same technic then scale back to it original size my low poly retopo when I am done.

    There is a various scaling method inside Zbrush but they are inconsistent.
