When
Jorge Gutierrez graduated from Art School in 2000 he immediately began pitching his idea for an original animated film. He was met with rejection, countless studios telling him "you’re just a kid...you don’t have any experience.”
But Jorge had a plan, start with an internet cartoon, then a TV show and eventually get to a movie. And that’s exactly what he did.
In 2001 he began creating his first internet cartoon which landed a publishing deal with Sony. Now when he pitched TV shows, he wasn't just some kid out of school. He was someone who had had a cartoon produced by a major studio which immediately began opening doors. His first original animated TV series, 'El Tigre', was picked up by Nickelodeon and the movie world came calling.
In 2014 Jorge directed
'The Book of Life' his first animated film. The film was produced in partnership with Guillermo Del Toro reaching global critical and commercial success and receiving a Golden Globe nomination for Best Animated Feature.
