Hey guys! I've been working on a small low poly scifi hallway for my portfolio and I am looking for some critique. I'm a noob to UE4 and I'm not entirely sure where to go from here.
I modeled this in 3ds Max and the textures were done in Photoshop.
I'd focus on the lighting, It's pretty drab and by the numbers at this point. I'd watch a few tutorials, (turn off your glows) and get some lighting in there that looks good with just point lights and directional/ambient. Once you have something your happy with/have gotten polycount feedback on.....then you can turn on your emmisive materials/lights. Going this route should inform you on polishing your materials. (metals should look like metal, plastic, carbon fiber...etc.) Those are the areas to focus.
Your hanging wires are too low poly, anything for a portfolio/personal piece should be smooth.
Sorry for my slow reply, I have been crazy busy in the past week. I revisited the lighting and turned off the glows. I haven't touched the hanging wires yet, I'll get to that after I find a lighting setup that works. Thanks for the feedback!
Wasn't sure how to post images so I just used the built in file upload, I'll now upload through my Pinterest account. Thanks for pointing that out for me.
Looks much stronger than the first post. I recommend you keep pushing the lighting even more. Perhaps something a little more moody/ dramatic with brighter brights and darker shadows. Are you using AO at all? There doesn't seem to be much if any ambient light to give it that realistic touch. The other thing that immediately stands out is the fact that everything has roughly the same lvl of reflectivity. It's a WIP so you probably haven't gotten around to that yet. Keep at it!
I added AO and changed up the lighting a bit to make it look more moody. Also I started adding some spec, roughness and metallic maps, and I'm leaving out the emissives until I'm happy with the materials and lighting. I also changed the colour of the green on the door to be a little less intense.

On a side note, make a pintrest account, a lot of folks here might not click on your thumbnail to view your image......Upload your images on pintrest and link directly to the .jpg there and use that as your hosting. (it's free) easy to setup, and also no good reason not to have a pintrest account given the wealth of shared knowledge on that site for artists.

I am not fond of the 2 'green' you used for the scene (the door and on the 2 side modules), looks like a 'candy' green
I think your materials are not PBR. Atm it looks like albedo+lighting only. (miss metallic, roughness, emissive if needed etc...)
Keep up the good work!
Slowly but surely getting there
