Greetings,
We are a small team of devs in Denver looking to make a JRPG. We're using Unity and are still in the early stages. Our art team is not yet established, so we're looking for people who are interested in joining. Currently we're looking at water-color styles. Our art direction is not completed so exact details will be difficult to provide. If you want to be involved in helping us figure out what we want the art to look like, let us know.
Our team is built out of ex-industry people with many years of experience in different facets of the games industry. We also have 1 of our coders who is currently employed in the industry.
Work done on this game could be used as resume/portfolio filler and depending on how well we do, we might even be able to pay people when this is all said and done.
The creative vision for the game is that of a more simplified JRPG experience. We want to take the cruft and grind out of the JRPG but keep that old-school feel. We're looking to create a well-crafted concise game of no more than 30 hours and focus on well-written story, less melodrama, more story development, fewer and more focussed battles, a more intentional pace of game flow, and less filling the player's time with stuff that doesn't make the game better. We want to make a JRPG that respects the player's time and aims to engage and entertain more consistently than the more contemporary approaches tend to.
We are working with Unity, tracking in Jira, documenting in Confluence, have a private Github company repo, and can provide Photoshop licenses for team members who need them.
If this sounds interesting to you, let me know and we can talk in more detail.
Thanks
