Humble + Indie Game Making Contest

Hey all,

Just launched this afternoon, but in case you haven't seen it yet www.humblebundle.com and IGMC are partnering up for this year's 1 month gamejam with big prizes and such.

I work closely with some of the guys behind the Indie Game Making Contest and thought I'd spread the word a bit :) Especially good opportunity for some of the novices among us as winning not only comes with cash, but also promotional assistance from Degica (the sponsor and publisher of RPG Maker and many other entry level game making tools).

Info on the IGMC at http://contest.gamedevfort.com/

Good luck :D

Just got the word that the art assets (and excellent pixel editing tools) that come with this are now universal licenses that can be used in any editor/capacity. Or so I heard from someone else.

Eh, I wouldn't find the art assets to be a particularly big draw. The music and the software are great, but most of the art didn't seem to be of usable quality.
Even one of the few 3D meshes I found was balls deep in polygons for no reason, and I don't think any of the sprites are animated.
Mind you, I'm not complaining. Not at this price. Just saying that one should not consider the art assets a real incentive to buy it. You probably won't use them anyway.

Yeah, in part it depends on your skill level too. I see this as primarily a learning tool for beginners more than anything.
