Also, check the Tool > export options. Turn off the GRP option. It splits your zbrush subtool into subtools upon import. I've had some problems with that in the past.
Hello, I have a similar problem:
I exported a 3ds max project as a .OBJ and imported it in ZBrush (a piano model). The problem is that some faces are missing and sometimes appear when I rotate the subtool, but they disappear again. Has anyone had this problem, or does anyone know how to solve it? Thanks!
hey guys, i tries all the things you said, it doesnt work. i want to show you what i am trying to export though. its basically a lot of pieces merged together. every pieces was extracted, dynameshed, and then ZRemeshed.
there is alot of loose and dirty looking crease underneath the pieces, i dont know if this is the cause of why i cant export it into Maya. or maybe the obj is too big? and Maya can't handle such big objects? my RAM is 16 GB though.
or maybe the problem is due to the ZRemesh, i am not sure. this is depressing. i really need to export them into Maya so i can tweak come stuffs.
@dustinbrown, the obj file is 94.8 mb in size. when i import the obj, nothing happened. i expect it to appear in Maya, but nothing happened. the obj doesnt appear. i checked the outliner and there is nothing there.
Does it appear in the outliner? If so try giving it a new material.
As for the flipped faces looks like you extruded without taking the face's normal direction in consideration, that's probably why they appear flipped.
I've also been having some issues with the latest version of ZBrush when it comes to exporting OBJs. While I usually get errors trying to import to Maya, I found that checking/fixing your mesh integrity in ZBrush (very bottom of the Geometry sub-palette) fixes some strange unused vertex and over-shared edge problems that prevents Maya from accepting the file.
