I was wondering if its possible to use gradientmaps inside of substance painter and if not if its something you guys would consider adding support for since designer does have gradientmap support.
i want to try a stylized workflow inside of painter and being able to apply gradientmaps that affect everything underneath it is pretty essential to the workflow.
also having a shelf for said gradients and maybe even just for colors would be great for consistency sake.
the gradient would be used ontop of a base like this (these steps could be a substance i think to create the gray base)

Sometimes you want gradients going in very specific directions across the whole model or gradients going along an individual piece like an forearm armor or along an arm/leg, etc.
like if you have a red to orange gradient your darks would be red and lights would be orange and every value inbetween would correspond to a value in between that gradient
but yeah 3d space gradients would also be a nice addition to you can do topdowns etch
Gradients are of course an essential feature.
Ahh right. Well, yeah, both would be useful.
It looks like a really thick curvature map which I think would be really useful for getting a good hand painted methods.
And yes - Fabrice gradient maps in Painter would be awesome! The light node or maybe even a point light bake would be incredibly useful for this as well imo.
arvinmoses: the thickness is mostly because of the great sculpt pior did , its basically just a cavity/curvature map
Considering this reply from Froyok, I hope that now that Substaince Painter 2 is out this can be implemented.
Gradients in photoshop example:
Is there a plan to further improve the gradient effect in painter supporting a full gradient with multiple colours within the value range?
thanks

have there been any discussions on implementing the same gradient editor as both photoshop and substance designer have or is there some technical limitation on why its not possible?
the current implementation is very unintuitive compared to just clicking and adding points/colors on the gradient
It non-stop amazes me how monstrously inconvenient all that software from former Algorithmic are after so many years.
Noise gradient from Photoshop for example. You even don't have to choose colors . Just need to set ranges in HSB and click randomize several times . Allows to set very subtle complimentary colors variations in a kind of harmony way easy and simple. Than save in a quick access library.
I am literally gasping for air out of inconvenience in everything while working in Substance Painter.
20 something years ago we did textures having a special white clay , ink , dry pigments on special frames , splashes of coffee and my favorite a dirty piece of rug smeared with oil paint :) .
I recall I did a height map by sinking a tablet with white clay messed on it into diluted black ink. It was most realistic textures I ever did.
Sometimes i think I need to go back to that approach. Tabula rasa of a sort. :)
