Hey!
It's been awhile since i have posted anything. Been pretty busy lately.
As soon as i stumbled across Max Gon artwork i wanted to make this character. So i have started fleshing out the proportions. Since i do environment art i wanted to challenge myself and try doing a character, hopefully have something decent by the end of it!
So here is the concept i am working from:
You can also check out Max Gon super awesome art on his artstation which is here (click that follow button):

Concentrating on fleshing out the proportions and getting the silhouette right before adding any detail. All the hard surface stuff is currently place holder in zbrush and will be modelled in max.
I also have a shot of flat col in orthographic view:
Spent a bit of time refining the face. The eyes still need work. Ignore the back and side of the head since they will be covered by the helmet.
Any feedback is much appreciated, i am a newbie when it comes to characters. I really want to make this as awesome as i can so any advice throw it my way!
So its been awhile since i posted an update. Been busy with Japanese lessons and Life drawings most evenings which has taken up most of my time. Now i have finished my Japanese lessons its time to get back to doing art!
So i think i am done with the sculpt (apart from feedback changes.) Iv done some generic cloths folds that are a bit rough but once she is posed i will sculpt them into the correct position. There is some screw details missing on the hard surface parts, this will be done in Ndo. For the helmet i imagine it as a metal structure that has been wrapped in patchwork leather, think it will make a nice contrast of materials.
Here is the update:
And just for fun a little test render in keyshot:
Any feedback is welcome. Onto retopo and uv!
also I think the legs could use a bit more feminine curves in them.
other then that it looks great.
Savannakhet if i have time i might make my own version of the little bears. I will finish the character first
This is my first realtime character and i have learnt in incredible amount, there is loads of things i would go back and change but i think its time to put this piece to rest otherwise i will work on it forever. Thanks for all the feedback along the way. It's been fun!
Textured in DDO and rendered in Marmoset. Post effects done in Photoshop.
Here are some of my final images! You can check it out in the marmoset viewer on my ArtStation.
How did you constrain the marmoset viewer zooming in and movement? I couldn't find anything of that online.
@dustinbrown Thank you!I did originally make the second the character but i felt like it took too much focus away from the main character and it looked detached from the scene. I really like Max's pose with the chest pushed out but i couldn't get the same look in my model but i do agree it would be much more dynamic!
@Francois_k Thank you! There should be a drop down on the camera that has limit settings on it for the viewer!
@Lotet Thank you so much
Great job man, looks awesome.
