I've created a tileable texture in substance designer 5.1
The base colour in SD and the imported base colour in UE4 look slightly washed out and brightened. Does anyone know why this is the case?

UE4 import 16bits textures but display them incorrectly (only the preview, they should react normally in the material). This issue will be in 4.9 if I remember correctly.
If you really need a good preview in the texture editor of UE4, simply export as 8bits (you can force it on a node in Designer or simply use a 8bit format like tga).
