Skywind: Dwemer Observatory

Hello Polycount, I've taken on the daunting task (to me at least) of recreating the Dwemer observatory from Morrowind for the Skywind project. For anyone who played Morrowind, this is a recreation of the environments found in locations like Heaven's Gallery in Arkngthand.

One of the concept artists (RomanDubina) made an illustration for me to follow.

Starting with the center elements of the concept, the best approach to create them that I could think of was to divide those symmetrical elements into modular fourths. So far I've created the basic high-poly versions, to get the bulk of the normals from.

I think I'll take them into Zbrush next for further detail sculpting, or use NDO to create additional normal details to overlay. As far as dealing with the resulting seams of snapping the low-polys together into the full forms, I think taking the full combined low-polys into Substance Painter will allow me to paint the seams out of the color, normals, etc.

Any advice on workflow and techniques for creating this environment would be appreciated.

Next I will get started on the telescope.
