VrayHairMtl trouble

Hey guys!
I ran into a bit of a problem while working on a character. I'm supposed to do hair for it and I've done it using the basic hair and fur modifier provided by 3ds max.
I set everything up and used vraihairmtl as a shader. The hair renders and it looks quite nice until now. But I need him to be white and I used the preset for the vray mtl but anything I do it keeps coming out black in the render. And I have no idea what to do about that.
I would show an example of it but I cannot unfortunately, nda & stuff.
Anyway, if anyone ran into something similar and could tell me what I'm doing wrong it would be greatly apreciated.
