This is my first post on polycount, and I'm presenting my giant ant-like game character I'm making. The only thing I'm left to do is add the hair fiber polygons. The character is about 12k-13k polygons (I'm aiming for PS4ish). Of course I'm open to critiques and whatever I can do to push the character farther. Thanks for your time!
One thing I think you could push a bit more is the texturing. Some areas are lacking detail in the albedo and either look blurry or too smooth. In your gloss map I'd push the material definition more. Areas that are harder should be more rough, like the thorax, but in general I think the insect glossier but you should also push the contrast more in the gloss. Add specks of roughness to the smooth surfaces to create something that looks more detailed. Also I don't know if it's your resolution or your texturing, but some areas look pretty blurry. If you're aiming for current gen spec then it should hold up up close, so either up-res the texture or just sharpen the texturing you have at the res you are at now.
