Is it really an issue? bevels are somewhat broken in Maya. And in 3ds max as well.
Don't know how to fix it as I don't use maya. Maybe try Sub-D instead if you need it to be really smooth.
The real question is, is it actually a problem you need to waste time fixing? How close will the viewer ever get to that part of your object, and how visible will that very slight shadow be when you have your final normal map and other textures are applied over your mesh?
