So I am new to rigging but it seems I am making a noob mistake.
I am using maya HumanIK to get a biped rig and then After doing a smooth bind, using Paint Skin weights tool to manually skin. However, I was at finger bones and doing my thing, when I reliased that all the bones I skinned previously have gone back to the default smooth bind. ie lost all the manual skinning I did. So say for an arm, the smooth bing also had some vertices included in its binding. So I manually fixed that by using paint weights tool and flooding the value to zero. All good when i rotate the bone, etc. But then I go to work on a few bones and when i come back, everything has gone back to the default of smooth bind and hence I have lost all my work. Doesnt matter how many times i do this, I cant seem to get it to work.
In the Paint skin weights tool, I am just clicking flood to skin the relevant edges or vertices, so I dont know what else I could click so the bones remember my manual skinning.
