dunno bout you guys, but much as I love the 'chunky' look of iD's most recent games, I was hoping to see something that reselmbled 'DOOM' and not 'an iD Software Game'.
sure it'll be sweet, but that tease leaves me cold.
I like how it looks like actual gameplay footage and graphics, and not some kind of unreasonably filtered, graphically overcharged preview that would later on cause yet another Reddit downgrade "controversy".
Looks about as Doom as you can get with 4 seconds of footage. Visually it's a bit underwhelming, but it looks like the right direction to me. I'll reserve any real judgement until after the E3 demo.
So the question is, cover shooter, twitch shooter or horror shooter. I'm guessing from the background its a sequel where you head back to earth and find hell has broken loose. Pretty pumped, doom 3 itself was great.
Yeah, I'm with Anthony on that. Teasers are getting kind of out of hand these days.
It's hard to say anything at this point about the game. I'm curious what approach they're taking with this. I guess it's probably a straight up reboot, since that oldschool Doom gameplay would be a hard sell.
SO excited. Looks like they're trying to stay true to the originals a little more. I have mixed feelings about that personally, having loved Doom 3, but if the guns feel anything like RAGE, I'll love it.
I was sorely disappointed with Doom 3 in that it looked nothing, and played nothing like the original. And from what I can see here, it doesn't look like it has improved much.
So, I will probably give this one a miss. That, unless perhaps the next teaser manages to amaze me with a bright green space marine and a Cyberdemon with inverted knee syndrome! !!
I just hope that you can enter a room full of say a 100 demons and not have your graphics card meltdown.
they probably won't have that kind of gameplay now though
That's what a great many people would want from a Doom game.
I'd like a Doom 2 tone myself; initially a little dark and horroresque, but later devolving into that kind of ridiculousness. No Rest for the Living was fairly different to the rest of Doom 2, but it felt like such an awesome climax.
I'm very much hoping its like Brutal doom. I grew up with Doom and Doom 2, Brutal Doom only made it that much more visceral and dynamic. If this game is half as good as that mod it will already be better than Doom 3.
Yeah I agree there, I do feel the mod is very low brow. Those aspects I didn't enjoy. What I did enjoy was the more responsive nature to the combat. Either way, I'm really excited for this game.
Honestly I wouldn't mind if it went the Doom64 route, that one is my favorite by far
Man, I'm glad someone else mentioned this. I LOVE Doom64. It had everything I want from a Doom game, lots of intense action, but it knew when to dial it back to allow for some really creepy atmospheric levels. You really got a sense that you were lost in Hell against all odds. The soundtrack was great at adding to that too. Might be one of the most evil sounding soundtracks ever.
I played through Doom 1 and 2 recently with the Brutal Doom mod. I thought the fatalities were a bit silly, but the gunplay and violence was spot on. And those levels still play well. I think it's high time that we have a modern FPS that has you wandering around lost at times, as opposed to just funneling you from one scripted event to the next.

Cool logo though

Looking forward to this!
Ah, those were the days, and hopefully will be again. lol
A teaser for a gameplay reveal you mean? :poly142:
that started it all. Perhaps there will be a new era once this gets released.
For some reason this sentence makes me really happy

Ugh, please no. That would indicate a focus on gore and spectacle rather than twitchy combat tactics and fast gun play.

I'm with you on that one.
Just me being picky but, why people keep insisting on using white worn edges instead of using grey! (most ddo users do)
