thinking on where to make some fancy renders for hipolys, haven't decided yet
Shrike, it's on last screen :poly124:
BARDLER, it was complex texturing, done partly by handpaint, baked the main flow of wood layers and i used some photo refs on side, finished it with some color and handpaint adjustments.
It's really nice of you to explain it in that much detail, so thank you very much, I'll definitely try this out! Would you say this works for wood that isn't plywood as well?
The pink wood layers on the CZ looks like DXT compression color bleeding however, not very convinced with that, the metal also feels kind of strange with the many lightness changes.
I feel like it cant really hold up to the other 2 weapons which are great to be fair.

Cz is the oldest i did, and vss aug is more recent The pink thing called rainbow laminate, but yeah it's got some space for improvement too bad no time for it.
Wow, I'm so impressed by the modelling and texture work. Thanks for posting these images now I have a really high bar to shoot for with my own weapon. What tools do you use to texture the weapons? Do you use tools such as Quixel or Substance Painter or just hand crafted in Photoshop?

I used Substance Painter and Photoshop, but painter mostly. I wanna try Suite 2 too, but is it not out yet?
Quixel 2 isn't out yet but they're in the process a private beta. I got in by following them on Facebook and submitting my artstation profile when they asked. Your work is definitely good enough. I'd recommend either keeping an eye on their facebook or shooting an email and requesting a hook up. I'm sure they'd love the input from artists who are worth a damn. Your models are good but your textures are great; I'd absolutely recommend opening a dialog with them.
I handpainted them in painter. Only way to make some quality scratches is to draw them manually, dozen of brushes and stensils helps too. But it's not that hard as it looks
This is some seriously inspiring texturing, every material is so interesting to look at. Just out of interest, do you draw/paint/practice traditional art alongside 3D?
THE RIZZLER, thanks, nah i put all of my free time in 3d, because i have to constantly practice traditional art to grow some low level skill, so for me it's easier to focus on 3d art only, since it's demanding a lot of practice too.

I agree with this statement.
Also curious how you made the wood texture on the stock.

great work!
Would it be possible to see some wireframes and maybe soem specs (like texture sizes, vert count etc.)?
I'm working on a weapon for a FPS myself at the moment and some reference points what to aim for would be nice.
Really digging your texture work here, especially on the AUG A2.
... Nice work!
Dethling, 17k tris, textures sizes varies because whole weapon is modular and each part is individual, that's what i was asked to do.
Wires:
Maxilator, basic method of making wood is this:
Don't mean to be silly, but the Steryl AUG uses the metalness workflow and not the specular one, doesn't it?
Thx in advance!
Yeah it's uses albedo, roughness, metalness.
BringMeASunkist, thanks!
