Is there a way to make an action in photoshop that can save my currently open PSD as a TGA with the same name as the PSD and overwrite the old TGA if need be?
Right now best I can make is an action that saves to a fixed folder that was where I saved the file to while making the action rather than the folder the current PSD is in. Also after making the first TGA file next time I run the action it doesn't overwrite it but makes a file called "<filename> copy.tga"
I always have my PSD's in the sourceimages folder of the Maya project I am using the texture on and a one button way to make and update the TGA file would get rid of at least 5 or 6 clicks that I do almost non stop when I want to save and test the changes in Maya.

Photoshop noob here haha so when I installed the Expresso Texturing Tools one I keep getting the error below.
Error while exporting "_D": no valid channel was specified for target with suffix "_D".
No idea what more info you need lol or i'd give it.

It can what you want and more. You just need to prep your psd file.
I assume it has something to do with the RGB dropdown box that has only none as an option in it and also the alpha dropdown box that only has none as the option since i've heard in my classes of alpha channel.
I use a separate file for each of my diffuse, normal and spec maps and really had just hoped for a simple hotkeyable action that saved the file as a TGA of the same name as the PSD in the same folder as the PSD without making it a copy rather that stuff as elaborate as these.
I would suggest trying each of the tools which only export to TGA, the last five or so, they are probably simpler.
