Hi everyone,
I'm trying to get into 3d as it can help me with my work. I make maquettes/models (mostly wargaming ones) using wood/clay ect and had been thinking about learning 3d for a while.
I feel there's so much to ingest at first sight as it really looks quite complex and daunting. At times it feels hard to know where to look.
I'm currently working on a personal project consisting of making a sort of dwarven settlement. Spent the last few weeks making plans on paper and got into the modelling a few days ago.
The goal would be to have hand painted textures, but I'm trying to wrap my head around the modeling part first.
Any help is more than welcome! Here's some default renders of where I'm at (I also have no idea how to render properly):
Main structure, a temple, pretty much the center. Missing a dwarven statue:
and another building which would be a potion shop:
Both models are low poly, around 3k triangles each give or take

I have a few youtubers I would suggest.
If you are using 3DS Max watch Arrimus 3D
and if you are using maya watch
misterh3d
Those are just a couple to get you started. Hope it helps!!! =]
EDIT:
Oh and those are looking good so far!
Speaking of which, I modeled my third building, supposed to be the inn, with some rooms with balconies and and enough ale for all the visitors.
I used the same rendered twice but got super different results. This felt so strange. As I said, it's a big reason to learn more about it
