After many hours of frustration and anger I come once again in asking help in solving another problem. I am trying to create this type of hair style in Maya for a game character I am working on (see below) and I am having trouble in creating it.
I Know when you do long hair or really rough short hair you use geometry (low poly planes) and texture them with a hair texture. But with something this short I find it difficult to replicate. It's too long to be a simple 'smack-on-top' texture and it's too short to use long strips of geometry. If anyone could help or at least come up with a direction as to how to model this at least in a passable manner then I would be eternally grateful.
Also if someone can point me out to a good tutorial on texturing hair that would be super awesome
