Persona 3 Tartarus WIP [UE4]

Hi all,

I've been working on this small scene for a short while now. I wanted to work on it as a way to improve some of my weakest areas - namely, texturing and normal map generation, as well as serve as an "intro to UE4" for myself. I feel like I'm not making a lot of progress recently so I'm looking for some advice on what to do next. First, some reference:

This is how the area I am making appears in the original game. The textures are quite flat and there's a lot of repetition - I thought it would be a good test for creating tiling normal maps. The area's fairly basic though, so I wanted to try and flesh it out inspired by the art style used in the anime film adaptation:

The film has a lot more atmospherics and more detail (such as the marble pattern on the floor tiles) but it's very dark, so I want to try and create essentially a hybrid between the original game and the anime.

I've also taken some reference of the same area in the day to see areas out of shot in the other images, and to see how the natural colours of the scene are:

With the reference out of the way, here's progress so far:

(with fog - it's a little hard to see in screenshots but there is fog in the game - I'm going to tone mine down though.)

I'm fairly happy with the floor textures at the moment. I'm not calling it finished, but I'd like to bring other elements of the scene to a similar level. I might try baking an AO map for it, and I feel I need to adjust the specularity on the marble pattern.

What I'm having most trouble with at the moment, is the material on the walls:

They're just really flat base colours at the moment. The ref shows they're pretty even colours (I assume they are painted), but it doesn't look right in engine, especially next to the floor. The screenshot I posted a little above of the classroom door shows there's a bit of colour variance on the wall but I'm having trouble creating a similar effect - I'm not very good at painting in Photoshop. If anyone has some tips or advice I'd greatly appreciate this. I don't mind spending a decent amount of time on this as long as I can make something good by the end of it. I'll leave the post at this for now but I'll try and post progress as I go - for now I want to focus on these walls. Looking at the ref a bit more closely, I'm starting to think those green strips might infact be glass windows... it's hard to make out so I'll probably boot the game up and check when I next get a chance.

Thanks for reading! I know it's been a fairly long post. :)
