**WIP** These pieces are part of a three week solo class project that I just finished up last week, the environment itself was pretty large and honestly I should have shrunk it down to just the throne room that these pieces were for and really focused on them. All of these were done in 3ds max and textured in substance painter (first time using it). I'm going to continue this scene in UE4 instead of Unity, which we had to use in the class. Now that I have more time, I really want to add some interesting detail to these assets as well as the others (which I will post later on today) and would love any feedback/criticisms.
Hey so I'd love to see these pieces in the environment setting whenever you get around to it. I think right now most of the textures are a little noisy, particularly the gold steps. The cloudy sort of noise normal map doesn't read very well to me, for some reason. Maybe post some reference images too?
I also think the gold on the stairs and on the vase is too noisy. Seeing your references would help a lot, but I have done some googling and I think it should have a more polished look with some dents and scratches.
Here's what I had in Unity 4 when I turned the project in, I wasn't able to create as many assets as I wanted to fill the room due to lack of time (should have scaled the project back to just this room). Currently I'm working on re-creating this in UE4, which was the plan from the beginning, so I did not want to invest too much in Unity.
Thanks for the advice on the gold, this was my first time with substance painter and I need to develop more of an artistic eye for those kind of things. The obsidian did not turn out how I planned either. It was a good learning experience but I'm not happy at all with how it turned out, do you guys think I should scrap and rebuild completely? Looking for honest C&C, this was my second project in 3ds so I have an immense amount of practicing to do over the summer!
