Hi, I have very little experience in maya and want to bake some mid poly textured and normal mapped models onto a low poly model, similar to here http://www.polycount.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1590084&postcount=320
Can someone tell me how? or direct me to some tutorials that cover this?
Yes, its slower than XNormal and maybe other dedicated bakers, but you can accurately bake Maya shaders. Its relieable...
Hmm, i would check if you can go with lower quality settings.. Or do quality checks with a lower resolution/lower quality, and let it run in High quality over night (like in the "good" old rendering days...)

I want to use the same tequniqye as "choco" at http://www.polycount.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1590084&postcount=320
Read about the output maps in the docs:
http://download.autodesk.com/global/docs/maya2013/en_us/files/Lightingshading__Transfer_Maps.htm
slow like 5 hours to bake a disp and col map.
