Normal Map Weirdness

Hey guys I have been baking out my barrel and I have been getting these weird lighting effects on my flat surfaces. these things have never really been explained to me but i would like to know whats up.

Don't feel dumb, it's a very common issue that I think a lot of people don't really understand, which is why I made that other thread, and yeah, its hard to search for something when you have no idea what is causing the problem.
