I know you're going by the concept, but that shoulderpad really doesn't work for me. The rest of her armor is so practical, but those wings look like they will poke her in the face every time she lifts her arm. It throws off what is otherwise an elegant design.
I'd suggest pointing the wings down.
tits is right... the arms are more solid in the concept and the armor piece of the lower arm has a more drastic curce to it
i would really try to get that volume transitions lower and upper arm as foot right
that gives the concept a lot of character
thanks for all the feedback! you guys are really helping me polish this up.
I got a LOT of people mention the small feet, haha. hopefully they look better now, I tried to make them longer and taller while keeping the slender style.
@Fingus - I definitely agree, the shoulderpad is a tad ridiculous, but I really want to stick to the concept for this piece, just want to show studios I can follow a design to the T (even if its a bad design :P )
I'm going to add some wear and tear to her clothes, then hopefully I can start the low poly.
Keep the comments coming! I can use all the help I can get.
Been a while! went on a couple vacations/trips and now I'm back, it certainly put a dent in my momentum though. But here's what my retopo looks like currently. Its sitting at around 15,500 tris. I'd love some help on optimizing it, I'm sure I have some loops I can remove or silhouettes I could improve on. https://sketchfab.com/models/f9d73bab5b1f494eb4b998a56a67e111
First time seeing this, your proportions came a long way! Looks great now. I wouldn't have gone as far to say as the shoulder pad is a bad design though. I think there was a reason you picked the concept to work from to begin with. Because it was appealing? Sounds like it did its job but I think the wings are a lot thicker, wider and less squared off.
Looked at the sketchfab model, call me old fashioned but I would love to see some pics!
Looks like fanart of the explorer armour from Dark Souls 2 + other pieces:
Coming along nicely.
nice! good eye. I knew it was fanart from Dark Souls, but I haven't played the game myself. I tried to google some reference from Dark souls before I started but never found the original outfit, so I decided to just go with my best guess on some of the details. its really neat to see how my interpretation compares to the original.
Nice! It's coming along. I think figuring out how to make it look like the concept with shader or post-processing as render target will be the cherry on top.
Try to push the silhouette closer to the concept, I think you're missing some of what makes the concept look so good. Equipment is sticking out, leather armor as well. Nicely done though with only one image you had for a concept ;]
mmm I hear ya razz. Its a good point and I wish someone had pointed it out a little earlier. I will try to push out the silhouette of the bracer and on the tops of the boots, hopefully its a small improvement. I know ideally it would be nice to give silhouette to the folds in the arms but I think its something I'll keep in mind for my next character.
I'm trying to put the skin and hair on the same texture and material, but I'm having some difficulties getting the hair to have tight highlights without using anisotropic (I might still put it on if I can paint an anisotropic direction map that makes it not affect the skin?). tips are appreciated.
Looks pretty awesome! The only thing I can suggest is have you tried making her eyebrows brown instead of white? Whenever I make a female have white hair in a game ect... having her eyebrows white just seems weird. Just a personal preference though maybe it wouldn't look that good with this model. Again, amazing work!

working on the folds of the tunic
I started the hair planes, still rough though. Its my first time doing hair.
and here's a few of the items.
going to move on to the low poly soon. Critiques please! This is my first complete character.
but ive already marked it as favourite for my next char
I'd suggest pointing the wings down.
Also what Marie said, tiny tiny feet.

love the character and props.
One thing though, doesn't the legs look a little small?

update on textures, went pbr with it. I dunno, do you guys think I should do stylized instead?
I think the part that the arrow is pointing to is looking like my best results so far, I'll try to replicate it across the rest of the hair.
Alright guys I'm about to call it done, this is your chance to suggest any last minute material changes. crits and comments welcome!
