I cant seem to connect some of the edeges together..

Delete the offending polygon and just bridge 2 new ones? I get this sometimes in MODO. Just do what needs doing and move on ...

Check the integrity of your mesh with the 3 button.

Have you tried bridging these four instead of the other two? It seems like you've selected the other edges and there it an edge loop inbetween which might be why it doesn't bridge:

Also try using Mesh->Cleanup on your mesh. It will help with non-manifold geometry and n-gons.
