Brick Wall Edge Decal

Hey guys,

i want to improve the look of my environment by using edge decals to give my brickwall a broken look at the edges. i made only some edge decals for concrete before so i searched for good examples at brick walls but i found non cool at corners.

maybe you done sth like this before and give me some advides how to do this the best way.

Can you post an image of what you're trying to achieve? Good reference photos are essential to creating a convincing effect. This will also help you break it down into modeling vs. texturing.

I remember seeing someone do some convincing brick wall corners in one of the game art dumps awhile back. Can't recall which one though. I'll dig around a little.

i already used the technique haiddasalami posted. the problem for me is how to get a good look at a 90 degree edge for a brick wall. its easy to do this for concrete. but after a bit more research i think its familiar and looks nearly the same.

but maybe you got some better ideas

Instead of baking a flat, broken brick texture I would just sculpt a unique broken wall section, bake it as a separate mesh and put it on top of your tiling brick wall. You could even use an alpha mask to create a nicer transition between the two meshes.
