Here goes a scene I've been poking at on and off for a couple of weeks. Decided to come here and get some feedback!!! Please give em what you got I need some help deciding the lighting direction, I also already have plans for more props but any and all suggestions will be accepted thanks!
Capping off that area in the back will help a lot. Seeing that bright sky gradient popping off the buildings is going to be jarring until you hide that space.
As for lighting direction. I would say think about your sources and that will help you get started. You've got some directional going on already, but again, its coming from a space with nothingness because of the open ended alley. A light at that drastic of an angle wouldn't really directly hit an alley much at all. You could get some street lamps above there for some good sources.
Even if this ends up being a night time shot, don't be afraid to brighten up the space a bit. Check out how much brightness/color is happening here, for example:
You could also think about putting some "wonk" on your geo. Flat walls and a flat alley don't make for very interesting light play. If you have some good material response going on, even minor, subtle geo variation will play more interestingly on the surface. Get some curving on the road, rotate the buildings around just a tad so they aren't all straight, etc.
Simply putting a fence in the back to cap off the end of the alley would be ideal. Adding some dumpsters in front of the fence too can also help mask out the empty space there. Stay away from the gradients use a default sky-box. That should help a lot! If you have some time adding a plane further out away from the scene with a city street texture is a good idea.
You are using UE4 so the lighting system is great. Trying putting some point light by the door and further down the alley way. 4 MAX should be enough. Alleyways don't normally have many lights so don't add too many.
Amazing! Thanks for the feedback. The alley end was bugging me and I'm grateful for the solution. That reference is sick mau add that to my ref. Question: do you guys have any suggestions for how to approach getting that awesome lighting on the walls? I'll make said fixes and updates thanks!

Until you decide on the tone and mood for the lighting perhaps leave the default so we can get a look.
Keep at it.
