Hey guys, I've just finished up a project done in UDK hoping for some feedback. And yes UE4 is out (and free), I just wanted to wrap this up before moving onto my next project which will be done in UE4.

A short background on this piece.
It's based off an actual type of village located in Sulawesi, Indonesia. I've never been there myself so I had to gather a boatload amount of reference pics to try and match the real thing as close as possible.
Primarily this projects function for me was to practice making a couple of set pieces of structures and bringing out the differences via texture blending, as done on the houses, rocks, ground etc. And just building a nice scene in general.
While I did build everything shown in this scene (models, modified photo sourced textures), the skybox material, mesh and its texture were borrowed from UDK's library.

Here is the link to the video, sorry about the weird slow pace in some areas and stuttering, it turns out UDK's matinee camera moves a lot faster when rendered as opposed to in editor. Plus youtubes upload didnt help.

    Hey! I think this looks really nice! This could be personal preference but I might tone down the bloom or maybe the depth of field a little. Together it's a little overwhelming in places.

    I think the foliage looks pretty sweet. In this image I feel like it is looking a bit inconsistent. Certain materials feel like they belong and others don't like the bamboo thing on the front of the house and the clothing materials. Also the clothing on the left is extremely shiny so I would turn that down a bit. But that is really the only shot that it seems like you're getting those problems IMO. I feel like this scene is strong enough just with this image. Keep up the good work it's a pretty awesome village :)

    @Anngelica Thanks. I think your personal preference turned out to be a better option. I toned down mainly the dof, was a little bit too high on the farside. My intention was to bring out the contrast in order to focus on whats near, but I think it was a bit much.

    @simou thanks!

    @nickcomeau yeah as Anngelica pointed out, the dof and bloom were a bit much so i brought that down a bit, also fixed the texture on the clothesline a little bit, mainly it was too white. I dont understand the bamboo material comment though, do you mean the bamboo itself is out of place? from the refs that I've gathered it appears to be used quit a lot.

    No I didn't mean having bamboo is out of place I meant it just kind of feels placed in there, it doesn't feel like it belongs. It's a bit broken, and yet it still looks all flat. It would probably have some parts fraying outwards/coming apart. I don't know I guess just something about it seems like it doesn't fit with the rest of it but that's just my opinion.
