I think 3 months of setup is a bit much but if it was done in free time you can shrink it to 1 month or even a couple of weeks of intense work.
I'm wondering if it is possible to load your own primitives in Houdini (like modular building blocks) and then make a procedural stuff out of it. The app fascinates me but still I can't find time for it.
