Hey everyone!
I've been working on this Joan of Arc piece for a while and would love to get some critiques before I go further.
Right now I'm re-working her legs, trying to get them to the correct proportions and thickness.
Here is my moodboard and a few screenshots!

Thank you for your feedback!
Just a quick update, I didn't really do much apart from moving things around and adding a few more details.
I really like the bowl hair cut idea! So I did some rough little sculpts to see how it could look. jhoythottle if I can't pull it off I'll definitely stick with shorter hair, maybe a pixie cut?
Thanks guys!
Anyway, sorry for writing this story, but it has always bothered me about depictions of Joan that they do not take this into account and often depict her looking as feminine as one can be with a breast plate; while the historical person was quite literally willing to die for the act of cross-dressing. It seems that we're still not entirely comfortable with the idea six hundred years later.
The type of hair cut that men typically had, and Joan would have had, is the bowl cut sported by Nicolas Rolin in this picture or Henry V in this one.
(I had to read some biographies and the trial documents for a Uni course on Joan of Arc)
